The Garden

Submitted by Anonymous on Tuesday 9 Feb, 2010

The vegetable garden this year has been the most productive ever. Thanks to all the hard work, kind weather and our improved water collection and irrigation.

We have been harvesting scallopini, cucumbers, beans, heritage tomatoes, cabbages and silver beet. Soon we will be harvesting our main crop of Màori potatoes and self-sown pumpkins.

Too many tomatoes? Here is a handy hint.

Wipe clean, cut off any blemishes and pop into clean plastic bag then freeze. You will have free flow tomatoes to use in soups and casseroles during the winter months. We will be using ours to make soup for Fairfield Primary School.
