Working Bees
Mornings at the gardens are fantastic! – Usually a small group gets stuck in doing basic tasks such as planting and weeding and we always enjoy a great morning tea together. In season - this includes fruit grown on our very own fruit trees. This is an ideal time to bring children or come along for some time out for you.
When?
Every FRIDAY morning from 9-12pm*
Check out our map below on “how to get there”
– or you can hitch a ride in the DSM van – departing from Desert Spring (408 Peachgrove Road) at 9 am.
Monthly afternoon working bees attract a larger number of volunteers which helps us get some of the bigger jobs done such as building new garden beds, turning compost, potting on native seedlings for our native tree nursery and in the spring we will be building a brand new composting toilet –with funding recently received from Hamilton City Council. There is a job and place for everyone and we welcome any contributions for new ideas, planning and development of these wonderful gardens.
We have a shared afternoon tea which everyone is welcome to contribute to and enjoy.
When?
Every 2nd Sunday of the month from 2-5pm
